Long ago, in a faraway land of Australia, lies a kingdom called the Endomel Shine. Every year, the Endomel Shine holds a fierce cooking competition, called the masterchef.Â
Leaving golden opportunities for both the common and noble, a gateway to show their culinary skills and impress the judges. The prize for such competition was simple; one was to have one wish of their granted and a chance to serve the royal family one dinner meal.
On one fateful year, the same year of the seventh ball was announced, with an unexpected turn about. The kingdom, Endomel Shine, would be visited by their neighboring kingdom. In order to save their face, Endomel Shine changed their rules.
Not only you need to impress one royal family but two!! As such, the winner of the ball would bear the honor to cook the royal family a whole feast, have now two wishes allowed to be granted while also generously compensated.
Everyone was eager, they set on stone for the very large sum prize. Soon as the audition oppenned, many had flocked in. Yet the judges' fierceness towards the participants was no play. They wanted the best of the best to serve their royal kingdom and allies. Thus it was no surprise why many were forced to be sent home, left with frustration and sadness.
However, amongst the thousands of applicants. One stood out. "I am but no more than a magician,'' he said. Born from a faraway land yet had spent most of his life in Australia. He had come to masterchef for a chance. A chance to show his skills.Â
The judges heed him no mind at the time, to them, he was another normal participant amongst the sea of competitors. Yet as the timer turns zero and the buzz echoes through the room.
"Reynold Poernomo"
'It is time,' he thought. The magician grabs his plate and walks forward to the stage. He presents his plate down then walks one, two, step backward. "Ladies and gentleman, may I present you with Coconut Panna Cotta." That was Reynold's first dish in Masterchef and his golden ticket to pass the audition with flying colors.
Reynold first debuted in Masterchef Australia season 7 and made his second debut in Masterchef Australia season 12 or also known as Back to Win. Unfortunately, he did not win the first place in either season, settling in the 4th and 3rd place respectively. Nevertheless, he still won over the judges and the audience's hearts over his foods.
Different from his brother, Arnold Poernomo. Reynold is more specialized in crafting desserts, he usually experiments with complicated technical methods to create his desired dish. His understanding and ambition on creating a craft of sweets art led Reynold to be nicknamed as the 'dessert king'.
Reynold owns Monkey corner and KOI dessert bar, which was a part of KOI kitchens. KOI kitchen was run by Reynold's mother 'Ike' alongside Reynold's two elder brothers 'Ronald' and 'Arnold' Poernomo.
It's hard to believe that Reynold's childhood dream was not to become a chef, but rather a pilot or a lawyer. His passion for cooking started at the age of 14, where he began to find food as another alternative of expressing his creativity and craft. Once a hobby of his, now has grown to an everyday passion and full time job.
