In Indonesia, basic manners are called "Tata Krama." Tata is a word that means rules, norms, and customs, and Krama is a word that means behaviour , language, and polite actions. Therefore, etiquette can be interpreted as a rule of behaviour .

Quoted from The British School of Ettiquette, "manners" are general guidelines for behavior in human relationships, such as respecting parents and not interrupting other people's conversations. Initially, these manners were born in a limited environment. But over time, it began to become a habit in everyday life.

One of the phrases is "If you are not looking good, at least have a good attitude." Manners are not just attitudes, but also habits that humans need to have. This manners education aims to get people used to acting in accordance with applicable norms so that these habits will carry over anytime and anywhere. Furthermore, manners have become something important and necessary in life to support human activities.

The benefits of learning manners include:

  1. Can make someone respected and liked by others.
  2. Minimize the possibility of conflict because, with good manners, everyone will feel appreciated.
  3. Can build many relationships because, with politeness, people will feel comfortable around us.

Various kinds of manners that need to be adapted to daily activities include:

  1. Manners in speaking,

When speaking, we must be able to place where and with whom we are talking. We must keep our words and speak politely when speaking in a formal setting. Likewise, in non-formal places, we still have to use polite language so that our interlocutors don't get offended.

  1. Appearance manners,

Dress is a source of beauty for all of us. Appearance is the first thing people see. We must be able to adjust the clothing we wear to the event. Wear clothes that are polite and closed so that we and those around us feel comfortable seeing them.

Every human being definitely needs to eat and drink sufficiently good nutrition and vitamins in order to maintain overall health because eating and drinking are basic human needs that must be fulfilled. If we don't eat and drink, our bodies will feel weak and lack energy. When eating, it's only natural for us to know the manners of eating, for example, eating with the right hand, not eating while chewing, and not burping carelessly. This is done in order to promote the habit of good manners.

  1. Manners in socializing

Socializing both face-to-face and on social media can reflect one's personality. In socializing, we must appreciate and respect the people around us. We also have to be able to choose which one can be a friend or not, and which one can be an example or not.

Examples of daily manners include :1) paying attention to others through helping ; 2) being courteous and friendly to anyone you meet ; 3)having a high sense of tolerance for fellow human beings ;4) being able to control emotions in any situation ; 5)always trying to take care of other people's feelings.
