Hedgehogs as a Cute Companion

Pets make you less lonely. Especially among those who live alone, a pet could offer social interaction when other people aren't around.

Recent social conditions that encourage a person to be more individualistic lead to feelings of loneliness. many people then decide to make pets as an effort to get rid of that feeling of loneliness. they believe that with other living creatures accompanying them everyday, they will not feel too lonely. Also, Studies have shown that pet ownership may be associated with lower degrees of loneliness. For example, published in BMC Geriatrics, an analysis of data from 5,210 older adults who were part of the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing, found that those who owned pets were less likely to report being lonely. 

However, maybe making a dog or cat as a pet is something mainstream. some people then try to choose another animal as their companion. hedgehog is one of them.  Not an animal with fine and dense fur, in recent years people have started choosing this spiny animal as their pet. the type that is usually used as a pet is the African pygmy hedgehog. Their cute face with adorable little body and smooth spines on their coat - similar to the bristles of a brush - are the special charm of this type of hedgehog. these charms then increase their popularity as a recommendation pets.

although this type of hedgehog is tame enough to be used as a pet, actually keeping and caring for this animal is not that easy. Pet hedgehogs are quiet, active, entertaining, and require a lot of care. First, hedgehogs are very solitary animals. It will take some time for them to get to know and warm to us, but once they know their owner well, they do not hesitate to approach and be spoiled for their owner.  Second, the hedgehog is a nocturnal animal. they will sleep more during the day and become active in the afternoon. Beside that, just like any other pet, hedgehogs should see a veterinarian every year to identify any potential health issues early. 

Overall, just like dogs or cats, hedgehogs can also be a good pets. By taking good care of them, they can become a warm companion to their owners. interacting with them also helps reduce feelings of loneliness by take care of them as a friends.
