Bede in old English is Bda. Bede is also known as Saint Beda, Venerabilis Beda. He was born in 672/673 - 26 May 735 on the floor of his room. He was a Benedictine monk, who lived in Northumbrian. Bede is also renowned as a scholar and writer. One of his famous works is "Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum". As a result of his work, he was given the title "Father of English History".
Bede wrote his first work, "De Arte Metrica and De Schematibus et Tropis", around 701. Bede wrote on a variety of themes, from scientific, historical and theological works. His hobby of writing led him to create 60 books. Bede understood Greek.
One of Bede's most famous works is "Historia Ecclesiastica Gentis Anglorum" which was completed in 731. Historia Ecclesiastica Gentis Anglorum is a work written in Latin which contains the history of the Church in England in general and even in particular. The main topic is the conflict between Celtic Christianity and Roman Christianity.
This book is one of the most important original references on Anglo-Saxon history. This book is divided into 5 books totaling around 400 pages and contains the history of England, both ecclesiastical and political, since the time of Julius Caesar. The first twenty-one chapters contain information from the time period before the arrival of Augustine of Canterbury's mission. Historia is a combination of fact, legend, and literature. For example, Bede freely composed fictional sayings of people who were not his contemporaries.
