- Grammar Rules: Our brains look at how words are put together in a sentence to understand the relationships between them.

- Making Sense: Our brains combine all these things to understand what the text means.

 

Listening: A Symphony of Sound

 

Listening is also a complex process:

 

- Hearing the Sounds: Our brains receive and process sound through our ears, separating language sounds from background noise.

- Picking Up on Sounds: Our brains identify and tell the difference between speech sounds, like the difference between "b" and "p."

- Finding Words We Know: Our brains search for words in our mental dictionary and get their meaning.

- Grammar Rules: Our brains analyze how words are put together in speech to understand the relationships between them.
