One day there was a large swivel bridge, which crosses a wide river. On almost everyday, this bridge body parallel with the river so that ships from both sides of the bridge can across the river to sail freely. But at the certain times, the trains always come through this place and the bridge was installed across the river so that trains can across the river. The bridge guard was in a small post on one side of the river, where he can operate the control of the bridge so that the bridge could be rotated and mounted in place when the train comes.
On one evening, when the bridge guard was waiting the last train came, he looked from a distance, through the evening light began to fade and he saw the light rail. He entered into the control of the bridge and wait until the train was in the distance which was expected by him before he rotated the bridge. He turned the bridge so that it can be plugged back in place, but with feelings of shock, he realized that the bridge locking control did work smoothly. If the bridge was not securely locked position, the bridge can swing forward and back at the end when the train through it, consequently the train can be separated from the path of the bridge and fell into the river drowned. The train which will come was a passenger train full of people.
He left his post with the bridge installed across the river and walked hastily to the river bank opposite, where there was a lever that he could use to lock it manually. He heard the roar of the train which was approaching and by learning forward and propped his weight, he locked the bridge. Many of people rely on the strength of this person.
Then, a voice came from the other side of the bridge, the sound that make his blood sizzle, “Father, Where are you?”
Four-year-old son was running across the bridge to look for him. The first his instinct was shout to his son “Run…! Run…!”
But the train was too close. His tiny legs may not be able to across the bridge with enough time. This man was about to leave the lever and immediately run to save his son and took him to a safe place, but he realized that he would not be possible to reach this lever in times if he went to save his son. He must make a decision whether he should save the people in the train or save his son who may be his son will hit by the train.
The train went fast and safe on the track, but no one on the train who noticed a small figure and destroyed, thrown helpless into the river, dragged down by the train. They are also not aware a human figure who was sad and crying, who still hold tightly the lever locking long after the train passed. They did not see how he was walking home with a limp and longer than usual to tell his wife how he had to sacrifice his son.
