Badminton European Games 2023 Finals: Bulgarian Stoeva Sisters and Danish Astrup/Rasmussen Won Gold

Bulgarian Stoeva Sisters and Danish Astrup/Rasmussen won badminton gold medal in European Games 2023.

Gabriela Stoeva/Stefani Stoeva played stunning in the final match beating the Dutch doubles, Debora Jille and Cheryl Seinen.

The first game was won easily 21-7 by Stoeva sisters from Bulgaria.

Jille/Seinen put up a tough fight in the second ganes, but the Stoeva sisters were still too tough and won 21-17. 

This is the Stoeva sisters second Gold medal in European Games. Their first gold in Baku 2015. They're clinched second gold for Bulgaria in 2023 European Games.

Women's doubles bronze medal was won by German pair, Linda Efler/Isabel Lohau. And also pair from France Margot Lambert/Anne Tran.

Danish men's doubles, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, won the gold medal after fighting hard to beat British players, Ben Lane/Sean Vendy.

The Danish pair Astrup/Rasmussen won convincingly 21-15 in the first game.

British pair Lane/Vendy managed to bounce back to win 21-19 in the second game.

The third game was tight. Astrup/Rasmussen, who were ahead 19-16, were chased down 19-19 by Lane/Vendy.

The duo from Denmark managed to win the last two points and ensure a 21-19 win, while also secured gold medal at the 2023 European Games.

The bronze medal in the men's doubles was won by the British pair, Alexander Dunn/Adam Hall. And brothers from France, Toma Junior and Christo Popov.

Marin and Axelsen Advanced into Finals 

Reigning European badminton champions Carolina Marin and Viktor Axesecure advancing to the final on Sunday (2 July).

2016 Olympic champion Marin showcased her dominance in the women's singles, beating Kirsty Gilmour of Great Brittain 21-13, 21-11. It was Marin's 10th win in 12 meetings against Gilmour.

Marin's opponent in the final will be gold medalist in 2019, Mia Blichfeldt.

Blichfeldt faced quite fierce resistance from the non-seeded player from Switzerland, Jenjira Stadelmann, which ended with a score of 21-15, 21-1

Marin is more favorite to win in the final than defending champion Blichfeldt. Head-to-head record is dominated by Marin who won four out of five matches against Blichfeldt.

World number one Axelsen claimed victory after facing quite a tight fight from third seed Toma Junior Popov of France in the semifinals.

Toma Junior Popov fought hard, but Olympic champion Axelsen was too tough to win 21-17,21-18.

Viktor Axelsen has never lost a single game to his opponent on his way to the 2023 European Games final. Axelsen will face Toma Junior's younger brother, Christo Popov, in the final.

Christo Popov achieved a convincing victory when he beaten Israel's Misha Zilberman 21-10, 21-14. Christo won all three meetings against Misha Zilberman. 

Christo Popov had to work hard to win the final match, because he had never won in his previous four matches against Axelsen.

Mixed doubles final brought top two seeds, Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue from France versus Robin Tabeling/Selena Piek from Netherlands.

Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue needed an extra fight in the semifinals to beat defending champions Marcus Ellis/Lauren Smith.

Gicquel/Delrue trailed several times in the first and second games, but finally won in rubber sets 21-18, 14-21, 21-18.

Tableing/Piek appeared convincing to win in straight sets over Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Boje, 21-14, 21-15.
