One of only two Singapore International Friendship Fiesta (SIFF) flag. (Photo: personal collection)
Sometimes ago, I wrote an article in Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian language) about the Singapore International Friendship Fiesta (SIFF) flag, which I made for the event held in Singapore on 25 October 2014. The article titled “Bendera yang Terlupakan” (The Forgotten Flag), posted in the Kompasiana website on 21 April 2015 (you may read it here: http://www.kompasiana.com/bertysinaulan/bendera-yang-terlupakan_553636fc6ea8342b3eda42d5).
I made two of these flags, preparing to giving it to the Chairman of the Singapore Scout Collectors Club (SSCC), the host of the event. But due a very busy week before I go to Singapore, I forgot to bring the flag.
Then, I heard that SSCC will held the 2nd SIFF which also the official establishment of the SSCC on 6 June 2015. This time I prepared my visit to Singapore more serious, and I even brought my Captain Haddock costume. I like to “cosplaying” as Captain Haddock, one of the main character in the Adventures of Tintin. This is graphic novel (comic) story by Herge, a well known Belgian artist. Up to now, the Adventures of Tintin already published and translated in more than 50 countries and language around the world.
So, on 6 June 2015, I had the opportunity to give the flag to Michael CH Poh, founder and chairman of SSC. I also took picture with the flag at the Singapore Scout Association Headquarters, the venue of the SIFF, which attended by hundreds of Scouts, from Singapore and from some other countries, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan (Republic of China), Philippines, Srilanka, and United Kingdom.
Thank you to Jerome de Silva from Srilanka, who took the picture of me and the flag in Singapore.
