Winter is related with snow. Unfortunately in Matsuyama city, Ehime prefecture, snow falls rarely. But do not worry; if you want to enjoy and play with snow, you can go to Shirai no taki, where you can see an amazing sight. There, you not only get to see snow, but you can also climb the mountain and enjoy a waterfall that turns into a chunk of ice in the winter. The waterfall is named Shirai no taki. Shirai no taki is located in Toon City, Ehime. From Matsuyama city, we can go by bus to Kawanouchi, then ride a taxi about 15 minutes to Shirai no taki area. Actually, we can take a bus to the area, but the bus that operates up to this area is very rare so it is more convenient by using taxi.

To reach the top of the Shirai no taki waterfall, we need to climb a hill surrounded by the ever green trees. That route is a fenced small road, approximately 900 meters long and takes about 30 minutes walking. However, we should take care of our steps since the route is quite sharp and slippery, especially when there is hardened snow that is fallen a day before.

When you reached the top, stunning scenery is waiting. Below this waterfall, there is also a rest area. Therefore, we can eat and drink as we enjoying the iced waterfall. However, since there is no restaurant or vending machine at the top of Shirai no taki, you should bring your own food and beverages. It is a unique place to visit, so do not miss this kind of leisure activity when you come to Ehime Prefecture in Shikoku Island.
