Simplifying Tajwid Learning: A Mobile App Solution for Gontor Entrance Students

 Introduction

My name is Aurora Rachel Pravita, a student at Darussalam Gontor University Campus C. I will review a journal titled "Mobile-based Tajwid 1 Learning Media at the Gontor Entrance Guidance Institution with the Demonstration Method" by Muhammad Sirajuddin Mumtaz Dzaky and Dihin Muriyatmoko Taufiqurrahman, published in 2021. This journal addresses the difficulties prospective students face in learning Tajwid 1 due to limited printed learning materials. 

Summary

Prospective students aiming to enter Gontor struggle with learning Tajwid 1 due to the limited availability of printed books. This study aims to facilitate Tajwid 1 learning using a smartphone-based application. The application was tested using four methods, including blackbox testing, which confirmed its smooth operation. Additionally, tests on five smartphones of different brands and screen sizes showed that the application runs well, making it an effective learning tool.

The need for this application stems from the increasing sophistication of operating systems. Tajwid, derived from "jawwada-yujawwidu," means to improve. It encompasses tools that enhance students' attention, feelings, thoughts, and skills, guiding their learning process. Since 2014, PMDG has not held preparatory classes, leading alumni to create BIMAGO (Bimbingan Masuk Gontor) to assist prospective students. Currently, BIMAGO uses limited printed books, making learning challenging.

Critical Analysis

1. Problem Identification:Limited printed learning materials hinder Tajwid 1 learning for prospective Gontor students, particularly in BIMAGO.

2. Proposed Solution:The study offers a smartphone-based Tajwid 1 learning application using the demonstration method to improve understanding.

3. Methodology: The application underwent blackbox testing and was tested on five different smartphones, confirming its functionality and effectiveness.

4. Advantages:

   - Effectiveness:The application provides a more accessible and effective learning solution compared to printed materials.

   - Ease of Access: Smartphone usage facilitates learning for students who struggle to access printed books.

   - Innovation:Leveraging technology to address traditional learning challenges is a relevant and innovative approach.

5. Disadvantages:

   - Technological Limitations:Requires compatible smartphones and internet access, which may not be available to all students.

   - Learning Methods:The demonstration method may not suit all learning styles; some students might need more interactive approaches.

   - Limited Evaluation:The study's reliance on feedback from six Tajwid teachers and one media expert might not fully represent the application's effectiveness.

6.Long-Term Impact:

   - Enhanced Learning Quality:The application has the potential to improve Tajwid learning quality in PMDG and BIMAGO.

   - Technology Adaptation: Promoting technology use in education could foster further innovation in the field.

 Conclusion

The journal highlights the challenges faced by prospective Gontor students in learning Tajwid 1 due to limited printed materials. It proposes a smartphone-based application as a solution, demonstrating effectiveness through rigorous testing. This application not only addresses the limitations of printed media but also offers a more effective learning alternative.
