Green Theory is one of the theories that developed from phenomena that occurred in the international world, namely seeing the problem of the global environmental crisis. In Green theory (Green Theory) the environment becomes an important aspect as the main thought footing. One of the implementations carried out by Indonesia-South Korea is cooperation in the field of electric automotive such as electric cars. The existence of this cooperation in the automotive field, especially electric cars, will greatly help reduce pollution in Indonesia. Based on the latest IQAir World Air Quality 2021 report released in March 2022, Indonesia is ranked 17th as the country with the highest air pollution levels in the world, with PM2.5 concentrations reaching 34.3 per cubic meter.
So with the existence of electric cars, it is hoped that it can reduce air pollution in Indonesia for the better in the future. The Indonesian government also provides subsidies for electric cars. The subsidies provided by the government are expected to help customers to get more electric cars. Indonesia and South Korea are implementing the Incentives for Trade and Economic Cooperation (IK-CEPA) with a green theory-based approach that emphasizes the importance of utilizing free trade agreements while maintaining environmental sustainability.
Green theory considers the environment as the most important cornerstone and regards the global environmental crisis as a major challenge. As part of the cooperation, especially in the automotive sector, Indonesia and South Korea are collaborating in the development of electric vehicles to respond to Indonesia's high air pollution ranking according to the IQAir World Air Quality Report 2021, Indonesia is ranked 17th in the highest level in the Southeast Asia Region. This initiative aims to reduce air pollution and its negative impact on the environment.

The Indonesian government is stepping up its commitment to electric vehicles by providing subsidies to ensure wider access and acceptance among the public. These measures are in line with the green economy concept introduced by the UN Development Program in 2008, which aims for economic development without compromising natural resources and the environment. The introduction of this green economy will have a positive impact on automobile manufacturing, especially through green growth. Green countries such as South Korea and Indonesia are actively adopting green policies, such as transportation policies that support electric vehicles to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Thus, through this partnership, Indonesia and South Korea seek to achieve sustainable economic growth, utilize green technologies, and respond seriously to global environmental challenges by giving priority to electric vehicles as a proactive measure in minimizing air pollution.
Cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea in the electric car trade reflects the dynamics of the evolving international relationship between these two countries. This cooperation not only covers aspects of trade but also has a major impact on environmental and technological issues that are a global focus. Electric car trade is one of the main focal points of this cooperation, given the importance of transitioning to clean energy to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change.
The two countries benefit from each other in this cooperation. South Korea, known as one of the leading electric car manufacturers, can market its innovative products in the rapidly growing Indonesian market. On the other hand, Indonesia as a country with high mobilization needs and rapid economic growth can take advantage of advanced technology from South Korea to reduce carbon emissions and shift to renewable energy.
This cooperation is in line with global commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support the development of electric cars as an environmentally friendly solution. Both countries recognize the urgency to adapt to this global trend and increase the accessibility of green technologies for their people. This creates a positive synergy between Indonesia and South Korea in achieving common environmental goals.
International relations also play an important role in this cooperation. In the context of globalization, cooperation between countries is not just an economic matter but also shows the involvement and interconnection between countries on the international stage. This cooperation can be seen as a concrete step in building strong bilateral relations between Indonesia and South Korea, creating a conducive investment climate and supporting mutual economic growth.
However, of course, this cooperation also faces challenges and needs careful management. Differences in regulations, business culture, and economic policies can be an obstacle, and there needs to be continuous dialog between the two countries to overcome these differences. However, this cooperation demonstrates political will and a shared commitment to achieving common goals, which in turn can strengthen bilateral relations.
Overall, Indonesia and South Korea's cooperation in the electric car trade reflects a positive direction in international relations between the two countries. By combining economic needs with environmental concerns, this cooperation not only strengthens bilateral relations but also makes a positive contribution to global efforts to address the challenges of climate change.
So the article I made concludes that the cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea in the field of electric automotive is very good and arguably developing quite well in Indonesia itself. Conducting cooperative relations between countries is also very important for the growth of nations and countries. Marin, we protect the environment and air that is already very dirty by implementing green theory with the use of electric cars. Thank you for reading my article, hopefully it can be useful and add insight.
My name is Anggita Dyah Hapsari from the International Relations study program of Yogyakarta University of Technology (Accreditation B) batch 2022. The reason I took or studied International Relations is because I want to know more about relations between countries and maybe one day I will be part of a diplomat. My favorite lecturers on campus are Mr. M Ridha Iswardhana, Mr. Adi Wibawa, and Mrs. Dian Permatasari. My concentration plan in semester 4 and beyond is to take international business relations.
