Movie Review Tormented (2018)
Watching a film with a drama genre is a joy. People can enjoy this genre because it has simmilarity with real life. There's no unlogical power, there is no unlogical creature, there is no fantasy. It's only about problems life. One of the film that has drama as the genre is Tormented.
Tormented is a film directed by Abdul MH Faiz, for Movie Festival in English Literature Department. The film takes "The Mark on The Wall" by Virginia Rewolf as the reference. This film on air in november 2018 in the Movie Festival.
Tormented is a short film about the story life of Diana after married. Diana is a girl who has a normal life as the same as woman in her age. She is a girl who lives happily, but her happiness is changing after her married and moving to her new house.
In this film, the main character is Diana. She is a house wife and she loves reading a book. then for the supporting characters, there are: Dianto as the Diana's husband, Dianto's Mother, and Diana's mother.
Acting
Relationship between Diana and Dianto is so weak. I mean the expression of Dianto is too flat and doesn't show that he was Diana's husband. There is no romantic atmosphere between them. Then, for the acting of Diana's mother has enough expression of sympathy. She has fully acted as if she was a real mother as well.
Setting
This film takes a house as the main setting. It's brilliant because the place has a great view that can make the viewer's eyes feeling fresh.
Costum
For the costums, it has enough relation with the culture. We can see batik and some traditional married clothes in the married scene.
Plot
The development of the story in this film has a high score, but also has a weak score at the same time. It seems in the conversation between Diana and her mother. They talk easily as if they are a mother and daughter, but this scene is too short that makes viewers can't more dive and feel the story. The end of this film is just so so. There's nothing special, instead this film as if has a big question but the question's never been answered until the end of the film.
