Children's literature provides children with information and a better understanding of life itself. Children's books, children's literature, are books that place the child's point of view at the center of the story and at the same time offer a significant truth that is expressed in appropriate elements and impressive language. Genre can be understood as a kind or type of literature that has a common set of characteristics, or categories of grouping of literary works which are usually based on style, form, or content. This has the consequence of understanding that in a literary genre there are a number of elements that have similar characteristics, and these elements show differences with elements in other genres. Although he admits that there are often overlaps, Lukens classifies genres of children's literature into six kinds, namely realism, formula fiction, fantasy, traditional literature, poetry, and non-fiction with each of them having several more types

Drama genre is intentionally not included because according to him, drama only complete after being shown and watched, and not merely a matter of literary language. The proposed genre of children's literature is quite divided into fiction, non-fiction, poetry, as well as picture books and comics with each subgenre. The basis for the division is the form of disclosure and the content disclosed. As Lukens and with the same argument, the drama genre is temporarily not included in this genre division. Judging from the time of its emergence, genres of fiction and poetry can be divided into fiction and traditional poetry and modern fiction and poetry.
