Putting context into Hoax, Cyberbullying and Hate Speech (Cybersecurity Awareness)
Internet literacy among Indonesians is said to have increased by more than half or up to 54.68 percent, according to a survey released by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII). The number of internet users in Indonesia reportedly reached 132.7 million in 2016 and 143.26 million in 2017.
Apart from the regulations and laws that have regulated hate speech and cyberbullying, there is still much anxiety among youth about these issues, specifically for the spead of hate speech that has become an economic and political commodity.
It's important to encourage young people to think critically, so they do aware of the context of hate speech as well as cyberbullying.
Social media as a platform of cyberspace has facilitated hoax, cyberbullying and hate speech in which that restrictions and controls might needed on existing content. The youth, need to have a good understanding on these issues. Therefore, youth's opinions should not be overlooked by policy makers, at the National Dialogue IGF-ID 2018, Agita Pasaribu (Youth IGF Indonesia Ambassador) held the Youth session by delivering the message to Indonesian youth regarding body-shaming, cyberbullying, its regulations in Indonesia and ended it with group discussions to the participants.
To conclude, ideally we are all believe to find a prefect balance between human rights and cybersecurity, also proportional internet policies in Indonesia to protect freedom of expression.
