It Starts from Reading

Someone ever asked me how come I could write something fairly smooth? Then I may answer that it starts from reading. Reading itself is a combination of our prior knowledge and what we are reading from the text. Thus, in my opinion, writing is a process of combining our prior knowledge and/or experiences with writing techniques to be able to produce the good outcomes.

It may be seen that the prior knowledge we have is a crucial aspect in the process of writing and reading. Whilst reading we are acquired to have a prior knowledge as what we have already had in mind, similarly with writing.

Here I would like to recall some of my childhood experiences as to reading habits that have affected me much in building my knowledge, especially when I use it for a writing process. I can tell that I don't know exactly when it came from initially. However, I had my reading habits quite intensely since my parents brought us (my siblings and I) some story books every time they got back from outside the town. Our family used to subscribe to some magazines/newspapers as well. As a little girl, my sisters and I had our own magazine called "Bobo". I would sometimes wait for it impatiently coming to our house every week and for reading it. I also remember quite well that every time I found any magazine or newspaper, I read all of them. Mainly I tried to find some interesting features inside it first, and then continued with the other article.

Then again, when I was still 10-year-old, I found a "serious" religious magazine placed in a bookshelf in my house. As a little girl, I unbelievably read it all with full of interest! I wondered that it just happened, unstoppable!

In the other occasion, when my aunt cooked something in the kitchen, I found a small muddled piece of newspapers near her. It was for wrapping some food ingredients and it was actually coming from a traditional market when she went shopping. Astonishingly and with curiosity, I found myself being really happy when finding out some articles that could be read on it!

Above all, I must say that until today, I am so grateful that I was being very much interested in reading. Hopefully, I would like to become a lifelong learner by reading and writing continuously. How about you? :)
