SOLO- Laskar Sambernyawa, a nickname given to the pride of the Surakarta football team, Persis Solo, is currently struggling and not in good form. Out of the 11 matches they've played, they now sit in the bottom three positions, which places them in the so-called "red zone" or relegation zone of the 2024/2025 BRI Liga 1 season.
In response to this, the Laskar Sambernyawa management appointed a new coach from neighboring Malaysia, Ong Kim Swee, and the announcement was made officially via the club's official Instagram account @persisofficial with the post “Officially ours. Ong Kim Swee is a Red” on November 25th.
Fans responded with full support and high hopes for the new coach, flooding the comment section of the Instagram post.
“We Believe In You Datuk” commented the account @condro_n4.
“Wes Bismillah wae, mugo-mugo gacor, iso munggah neng papan atas 🔥🔥” commented @reza._j._tifanto, which can be interpreted as a hope for the team to improve and compete at the top of the league.
“Bersiaplah King PERSIS akan tancap gas ✊” commented @sf_1923.
Not only did supporters show support and hope, but they also offered criticism following the arrival of the new coach.
“Hopefully, things will get better. But returning to reality, the problem lies in the midfield, so the new coach can’t be a guarantee that Persis will rise again,” said Langga, who claimed to have supported Persis Solo since elementary school.
