The question will clearly include words like "not" or "except" in uppercase letters, helping you identify what is required. The answers may be located in a single sentence, but they could also be scattered throughout the passage, which may make these questions take longer to answer. If you find them time-consuming, it might be a good strategy to skip them initially and return to them later.

A correct answer is one that is NOT true or NOT mentioned according to the passage. Sample questions for this type might include: "According to paragraph 1, which of the following is NOT true?" or "According to the passage, all of the following are true EXCEPT..." Incorrect answers will be those that are true according to the passage.

Schematic Framework Questions

Schematic framework questions test your ability to organize key ideas from a passage into specific categories. These questions usually present two or three categories and give several answer choices, of which five or seven are correct.

There will always be more answer choices than correct ones, with the incorrect options being either false or not mentioned in the text. Answering these questions follows a similar process to tackling Negative Factual Information questions. To respond effectively, start by ensuring you understand the categories presented.

If needed, go back and reread sections of the passage to clarify their meaning. Next, identify key words from the answer choices and scan the passage to locate synonyms or restatements of these terms.

Once you've found the relevant section, read it carefully to determine whether the information is true, false, or not mentioned. Eliminate incorrect or irrelevant options and then drag the correct answers into the appropriate categories. The answers don't have to follow any specific order. If you're unsure, take a guess, as you won't lose points for guessing, and partial credit is often given for some correct answers.

These questions involve placing true information from the passage into the right categories. You'll need to click on answers and drag them into position, with the task appearing on a separate computer screen. Because of the complexity, schematic framework questions can take longer to answer than others. Questions with five correct answers typically earn three points, while those with seven correct answers are worth four points.

Incorrect answers will either contradict the passage, not be mentioned, or fail to fit within the given categories. Correct answers restate ideas from the passage and fit the given categories, while incorrect answers may repeat phrases from the text but are inaccurate or irrelevant.

Purpose Questions

Purpose questions assess why an author included specific phrases, sentences, or paragraphs in a passage. They generally focus on identifying the author's intent, such as giving an example, presenting evidence, or providing support.
