Ah, Lego really brings back some memories. Lego has had a big impact on my life, the only toy I have always liked, even though I got my first Lego stuff when I was about three. I really love Lego.Â
I have Lego sets, Lego figures, Lego bricks, and more! Sure, almost everyone has at least touched a Lego brick, nonetheless built something out of Lego.Â
And with Lego, you can really express your creativity. Whether by building something out of the bricks or making minifigures, Lego lets you do almost anything.
Lego was actually a more perfected version of another brick-based toy, "Kiddicraft," created by a kid psychologist named Fisher Page. Lego was inspired by this Kiddicraft in a woodworking place in Billund, Denmark, by Ole Kirk Christiansen, who began his business by making wooden toys.Â
He then named his company Lego after the Danish phrase "leg godt," which means "play well." The business was founded on August 10, 1932. The first plastic Lego brick was made in 1949 by a son of Christiansen Kirk, Godtfread Kirk, who took over his father's business.
Like all toys, Lego has gone through many design changes. For instance, early Lego figures didn't look like much, the arms and legs weren't movable, they didn't have a face, and, well, wasn't much. But Lego now has sooooooo much more variations! So, you have Lego Captain America, Lego Harry Potter, Lego Iron Man, and Lego city, with a bunch of people. Mid-term Legos looked pretty bad because the faces still weren't detailed, there weren't any different bricks, and a lot more un-detailed stuff. But with, every year, Legos become more detailed, adding more bricks, and adding more minifigures. And that's how we got the Legos that we have today.
Even though Legos have gone through many changes, it is still, and always will be, very fun to play with. With every year that passes, Lego will continue to make new sets, add new parts, new minifigures, new everything. And that is what makes Lego fun, its randomness, and endless possibilities. And that is why I like Lego. Ouch! Did I step on a LEGO?
