OPM Chairman Jeffrey Bomanak at Marvic Headquarters questions dualism of ULMWP statements

 OPM Chairman Jeffrey Bomanak at Marvic Headquarters strongly disputed the statements put forward by ULMWP concerning the armed conflict between the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) and the Indonesian National Army and Police (11/6/18) in Ndugama. 

The OPM Chairman, from the OPM Headquarters of TPNPB Victoria, raised his concern over the duality of the statements issued by the ULMWP Spokesman and the ULMWP Chairman which are deemed both weak and controversial.

Jeffrey Bomanak who has now taken over the top leadership in the ranks of the OPM in the jungle of New Guinea, and who was chosen as OPM Chairman at a special session in February 2017, argued that the response of the ULMWP executives was very slow in dealing with the armed conflict between the West Papuan National Liberation Army  and the Indonesian army and police in Ndugama, West Papua. 

The OPM Chairman criticized the political statements by the ULMWP for their lack of cooperation and their inability to translate the basic aspirations or statements issued directly from the TPNPB leadership in the battlefield. According to him, ULMWP executives are diplomats, some of whom OPM diplomats, and diplomats have the task of simply transmitting to the outside world the demands made from the field of battle, and continue the lobby work towards the countries or organizations throughout the world that can support the struggle for a Free West Papua, through warfare. 

Furthermore, the OPM Chairman was very disappointed because of the apparent lack of cooperation between the ULMWP spokesman and the ULMWP Chairman who issued two different statements, but neither one of them felt it was necessary to take into account and to include the actual statements issued by the OPM TPNPB, the actual actor in the battlefield. 

He asserted that in this era we do not need diplomats who are afraid or who choose a middle way; diplomats have a duty to convey the views and the intentions of their home country, no more and no less. Because we as leaders of the OPM TPNPB in the jungle, and also our elders, as founder of the OPM abroad, are ready to take responsibility over all the guerrilla warfare that has taken place from the early 1960s to the present day.

Furthermore, the Chairman of the OPM indicated that he would soon issue an official statement that would invite Indonesia to be open to means of determining how to resolve the aspirations of the Papuan people at the international level by means of the independence and the full sovereignty of the Papuan people.

Then Bomanak explained that war was necessary: we do not merely want independence but we intend to reclaim the independence that was seized by the colonial power that is Indonesia. Because of that, the TPNPB has proven that through war, from the past until now, and with it, all pillars and civil society and political organizations must follow the pace set by the OPM TPNPB, and move in their respective fields as one, towards one same goal.

OPM Chairman Jeffrey  Bomanak also took note of the childish attitude of officials from the Regional Indonesian Police and the Regional Indonesian Army Commands who initially denied the air strike of the helicopter that carried out the bombing, and then began to acknowledge it when there was outside pressure. The world has changed; it is no longer as before. Nowadays we are in the modern era and you can't hide things like before.
