The excitement of the first Catholic Student Jamboree organized by the Pontianak Archdiocese. This activity was held at the Nyarungkop Catholic school complex, in East Singkawang District from June 22-23 2023, with the theme "Rise and Testify".
This activity was attended by many important figures such as the Archbishop of Pontianak, Mgr. Augustinus Agus, Dr. Drs. Adrians Asia Sidot, M. Si, Franciscus Maria Agustinus Sibarani, Maria Goreti, Kompas, CU. Representative. Pancur Kasih, P. Wiliam Cang, and many others.
In the event, the participants were given the opportunity to take part in many workshops whose material revolved around journalism and photography, business and content creators, national political education, entrepreneurship and creativity, spirituality and professionalism, and there was also a seminar on reading the future directions of students of the Pontianak Archdiocese: chances and challenges.
One of the participants I interviewed who was very enthusiastic about participating in this event said "the event was very fun and exciting, we got a lot of experiences while participating in this activity, such as how important it is to be someone who has creativity in living life in this modern era. In this activity, people are also invited to work together, care for one another, mingle with others and help Catholic families to strengthen one another. Even though the activities were so busy that we had to get up at 5 am and go to bed at 11 pm, that did not stop us from being discouraged in participating in a series of existing activities. The thing we don't forget is lunch time, where we have to run around so we can be the first to get breakfast or then after and after dinner because if we are slow we will rush to eat afraid of missing our group." Said Melsi as a Jamboree participant.
This activity which lasted for 4 days provided a lot of knowledge for the participants and of course it was very important and aimed to equip the participants with knowledge and skills in dealing with life in this modern era.
This joyful activity was closed on June 25 2023, starting with a closing mass led by the Vicar General of KAP, P. Wiliam Chang, OFM, SC KAP Catholic Pastoral Student, RP. Greg Kukuh, CM, and Pastor PMKRI KAP, RD. Alexius Alex, and continued with sayonara.
