Health Care Should Be Free

In 2010, an Indonesian man named Rusdin Zakaria experienced shortness of breath and was taken to the nearest hospital. The hospital demanded 7 million rupiah down payment to the patient who could not afford it. He was then transferred to another hospital, which would charge him less. He died of heart failure on his way and never received medical help. 

The limited access to healthcare for people has caused a lot of death that could have been avoided. Health care is one of the priorities each and every person should have access to. Unfortunately, health care is not free in most countries in the world. Many people living in poverty are unable to have access to even the most basic health care for they are not free. Health care has become a privilege only for the wealthy, discriminating the poor.

The biggest problem about health care that charges people is that it causes fatal problems such as death. Those who could have been saved if they had received medical help have died because hospitals refuse to treat them without payment beforehand. Those who cannot afford to pay the medical fees can only go home without getting the treatments they need and deserve.

This unfair treatment is inhumane yet so common today. Health care should not get to pick which patients to treat, it should be equal. To make that happen, health care should be off charge.

Health care is also important for the long run. People living in poverty are often unhealthy and dirty. This is one reason why they cannot fix their quality of life, they are unable to compete in the workfield because of their health conditions, lack of skills, and inappropriate appearance. With the help of health care, they will be able to be healthy and clean. 

Being healthy and neat, they will have the strength to work and the appropriate look to apply for a job to provide better living conditions and food for themselves. Free healthcare may solve health problems, poverty, and unemployment in the long run. Therefore to realize the social welfare of the country, we can start by erasing charges from health care.

This issue should be brought up to the world. Health care should be free everywhere in the world. Changes must be made. With free healthcare, untreated deaths and medical complications will not be an issue. Every human will be treated equally in the medical field. While also making social welfare happen by solving poor quality of life and unemployment for the brighter future.
