The Good Life

As we living a society that believe humanity beyond all, where vision was arguable and there is always differentiation each other sometimes. A fundamental question as a human being could be, what is the good life? How you describe a good life? Pursuing happiness? It is believed everyone has different definition about that. Many years ago over the centuries, many religious, thinkers or philosophers came out with the theory based on their understanding with "the good life". As Nietzsche said, the good life is one that we affirm by living fully and with gusto, but with a sense of the tragic dimension of human life.

A needs to fulfil a desire, graduate from school and get proper job in a big company can be a good life you wishing for something like your most desirable things in life. A pressure in a society has shaped people mind it affect how they describe the good life is, we often heard some people are depressed with their life because lack of expectation. When they put a vision and hope with an object that provide you with a possibility of happiness, or a sense of equal between each other could be a sign of a good life I believe.

A freedom to take action and doing what we want is a good chance of having a good life, simply said by Aristotle we all want to be happy. A measurement of valuable things that matter in your life based on your own perspective, for example we value our car because we've been struggled to buy that and also it allows us to moving around easily. As he said the good life is the happy life, how it supposed to be? Many people today think of happiness in subjectivist terms, as they believed a person is happy if they are enjoying a positive state of mind. On the other hand, Aristotle was agreed with Socrates in terms of the good life one must be a morally good person.

Certainly, it also believed that a happy life is having varied pleasurable experiences. How about unfortunate people/person who can't afford what others can, does this mean they have a good life? No one can't really say someone is  living the good life or not. As we just believe our own value in terms of good life, it can't be easily applied to others life, sometimes it looks bias when assuming someone life if they are often miserable or suffering. This means to live well is objectivist rather than subjectivist.

It is not as simple as what people feels, there are certain objective condition need to be satisfied such as prosperity, love life, friendship, health, virtuous, and etc, then we could reasonably claim that we have a good life when you able to fulfil those condition. In this cases who are able to pursue their calling are generally regarded as fortunate.

For some people who believe in religious way, religious matter that they believe who able to provide them a balance in their life between spiritual and normal life. Such people believed by respecting or pleasing a God which result having a good life and at least a guide to be happy. Many people had different perspective about the good life, it can be as simple as having a family with two kids or able to drink milk every morning that you grab from your fridge, which means it is about our expectation and how we set our mind to achieve what we think could make us happy. A desire with an object that we believe could make us happy, it is so bias to determine the good life is. According to Plato, he said the good life is lived by fulfilling the natural function that all things possess.

What he believes is almost everything in this world had a natural function, for someone who trying to explore that function is the first step in living the good life. I have been read some article on Forbes covering what the good life is wrote by Panos Mourdoukoutas, as he wrote a book with Michael Soupios about The Ten Golden Rules about good life. He explained it is about how we examine life as people always search for new pleasures and new destines to reach with your mind, according to this what he wants to address is the process and evident in all phases of life then what he believes is we need to find the reason why we doing that for instance reason lets human to think, explore and appraise and even discovering new sources of material and spiritual pleasure.

As we can see its about exploring since human born an infant don't know how to walk and the parents taught them, then they grew up as a teenager start to drink a beer as they seen to be an adult you need to try beer or anything with alcohol, it is just fulfilled your pleasure According to Plato about decode the message of beauty, beautiful object are whispering important truths to us about the good life, we find things beautiful when we unconsciously sense in them qualities we need but are missing in our lives, beautiful objects therefore have a really important function, they help to educate our souls, it makes it easier to be wise, kind and calm.

These kind of answer comes up when Plato asking about why people love to see a beautiful thing. Plato sees art as therapeutic, at that time would be a painter or poets have a duty to help people live a good life. In a modern world as we can see many artists who create an art to educate people and fulfilled what Plato means for people. In terms of media content more specifically ads or campaign always bring a values for audience for example some ads who trying to explain what you get or an insight if you use or buy that product, in this case I would bring some ads from most popular beverages company called it Coca Cola, in my opinion they always successful to attract and get people attention with their campaign or ads.

One of the ads called 'Taste The Feeling of Summer with Coca-Cola, in that ads Coca-Cola introduce what you can do in your summer holiday and gain more happiness by bring Coca-Cola to be part of your happiness, then obviously in that ads anything you can do with Coca-Cola is more interesting, I would say 'Coca-Cola was complete your life'. By this ads Coca-cola trying to show to the audience what they can do with Coca-Cola and there is a reason why you should include Coca-Cola to be part of your journeys as a result Voila! Yes I want coca-cola right now! And don't forget to bring coca-cola in a summer holiday. Spread happiness with Coca-Cola.
