Abstract
School-Based Management (SBM) is a decentralized approach that provides autonomy to schools in managing resources and making decisions related to education. This approach aims to improve the quality of education by encouraging the involvement of all stakeholders, including teachers, students, parents and the community.Â
This article discusses the definition of MBS, main principles, benefits, and challenges in its implementation. SBM has been proven to be able to increase the efficiency of school resource management, encourage community participation, and create higher accountability.Â
However, the successful implementation of SBM is faced with several obstacles, such as limited resources and management capacity in several schools, especially in remote areas. This article also presents examples of good practices in implementing SBM in schools in Indonesia. With adequate support, SBM has great potential to improve the quality of education evenly throughout the region.
