Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar who we know as Cak Imin was born in Jombang September 24, 1966 with a well-religious family background. Cak Imin studied in Jombang until junior high school then continued his senior high school in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 Yogyakarta. In Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Cak Imin continues his study with focus on Social Science and graduated in 1991. During study in UGM Cak Imin was active in organizations such as Head of the Student Corps in the Social Science Department and Head of the Pergerakan Mahasiswa Islam Indonesia (PMII) branch. In 1998 he graduated with a communication master's degree from Universitas Indonesia and title Honoris Causa in 2018 from Universitas Airlangga. His political career began with establishing Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa (PKB) and he was appointed to be the Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Dewan Pimpinan Pusat (DPP) PKB for the 1992-2002 period.Â
He fulfilled the vice of DPR RI role for 1999-2004, 2004-2009. In 2002-2007 Cak Imin became the head of Dewan Tanfidziyah DPP PKB and also appointed as Sekjen DPP PKB in 2004-2005 period. After being Sekjen, Cak Imin was appointed to be the head of PKB for 2005-2010. Since the reign of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), Cak Imin took office as Minister of Labor and Transmigration for 2009-2014 period. After fulfilling his role at ministerial he was re-elected to be head of PKB for 2014-2019 and 2019-2024, at the same time he also took office as the vice of DPR RI for 2019. From November 13, 2023, Cak Imin officially became the vice of Anies Baswedan in the Indonesia Presidential Election.Â
