Culture and Pancasila: Angklung as a Symbol of Diversity

Angklung is a typical Indonesian musical instrument that is often found in West Java. This traditional musical instrument is made from bamboo tubes. Meanwhile, the sound or tone of this tool is produced from the impact effect of the bamboo tubes by shaking them.

Dr. Groneman said that angklung existed in the archipelago before the Hindu era. This instrument was created to resemble a calung musical instrument with bamboo of different sizes according to the pitch.

Another version says that angklung was discovered in the 7th century in the West Java region by a farmer who was playing in his garden. When he heard the bamboo moving in the wind, the farmer tried to create a similar sound with bamboo of a different size.

Angklung became known in the 19th century through the hands of an artist. He used this musical instrument for theater and puppet shows.

As time went by, angklung finally became known to the world. A group of Indonesian artists led by Daeng Soetigna took angklung abroad and performed in Paris in 1938. At that time, Indonesia was still colonized by the Dutch.

The short relationship between angklung and Pancasila lies in the role of angklung in preserving Indonesian culture and supporting Pancasila values, such as mutual cooperation and education. Angklung is a symbol of Indonesia's cultural heritage and is used in education, reflects the spirit of mutual cooperation, and creates a sense of unity and togetherness.

The conclusion of this article is that angklung is an Indonesian culture that has great potential to be explored at the international level which can attract the attention of foreigners to Indonesian culture.

The purpose of this article because we want to share knowledge about Angklung and the connection of it between Pancasila , also this is an assignment from our teacher for the Pendidikan Pancasila subject given by Dr.Yatti Rosmiati. M.Pd .
