English Online Learning Class During Covid-19 Pandemic

Because of covid-19 pandemic, we are told to study and work from home. Currently we are studying in online class. One of our classes, is English. Actually, learning english by online class is difficult. English is something that has to be learnt through face-to-face communication. Moreover when it comes to grouping task, it gets even more difficult than it’s supposed to be. For example, a few weeks ago we were given a task to make a video about preposition and it had to be done within 3 or 4 days, with a group of 2 people. 

At first, we were stressed and thought it would be impossible. The task was about making the virtual map of our college and we should explain the map using at least 10 prepositions. We were really, really confused about it. We must stay at home, but we got this kind of task and the deadline is only 3 or 4 days. Well in the end, we did manage to finish it but still, it is such a bothersome task to do during covid-19 pandemic. 

Then, about the online class, we didn’t really get the meaning of it. Our learning has only been translating some sentences in our book through chatting and doing exercise in our book, even though I thought that english is easier to learn through conversation, not just some learnable theory. Online class also makes it harder to communicate with our lecturer. 

We can’t meet the lecturer, we also can’t ask for clearer hint about our tasks. Communicating is a little bit difficult especially when all of the students response the lecturer in the same time. The good thing about learning english in online class is that we don’t need to go to college and we have much more time to prepare ourselves before studying. But I guess this is not a very good idea when it comes to learning english.
