Elections are a democratic activity where people get their chance to choose who will be their leaders for the next five years. In the campaign, prospective leaders use promises to convince and attract voters to vote for them, including students. But unfortunately, many of the promises made by politicians often turn out to be mere lies that cut off hope, especially for students who want change.

The sweet promises of politicians to students who are the young generation, who are often the target of campaigns. They promise free education, accessible scholarships, good education facilities, and job training programs. It all sounds very tempting doesn't it? Especially for a student who has a very big hope to improve the quality of their education in the future. Such promises certainly instill great hope for them. They believe that by voting for the candidate they support, they will have a more secure education and future and the opportunity to achieve their dreams will be easier. However, these promises are often just lies that never materialize. Very sad, isn't it?

Students are also faced with the ugly reality when the election is over and those elected start work. Many of the promises made during the campaign have not been fulfilled. For example, education was promised to be free, and there is no clear change in the facilities at schools that were promised to be improved, and many students find it very difficult to qualify for scholarship programs.

At first, the younger generation was enthusiastic about participating in the electoral process, but eventually they did not want to get involved anymore because they felt that they were always lied to by politics. In addition, students who are too hopeful about these promises may become bored and no longer eager to learn. When they do not see the government's efforts to improve the quality of education, they may feel that their struggle to get a decent education is in vain.

Students play a very important role in monitoring political promises. By gathering more information and honing their critical skills, students become more active in observing and demanding those sweet promises to those who are elected.

Conclusion:

Elections are often a time when politicians make sweet promises to students, as the younger generation plays an important role in the future of the nation. However, many of these promises end up being nonsense, and do not make any real difference to the education and welfare of students. This has led to a deep sense of disillusionment among students, and has led to political apathy and a loss of enthusiasm for participation. However, students have great potential to play an active role in monitoring and collecting political promises, and participating critically in the democratic process. By doing so, students can become agents of change who promote accountability and improvement in government and politics.
