The painting of H. Abdul Manan is the work of his great-grandchild, Kind Hardy. The artist was inspired by the descriptions of H. Abdul Manan shared by his grandmother, Sawiyah, who was one of H. Abdul Manan's children. Grandma Sawiyah recounted the resemblance between her father, H. Abdul Manan, and his elder brother, Muhammad Siddiq Datuak Rajo Sikumbang. Therefore, the similarities between H. Abdul Manan and his son, Muhammad Siddiq Datuak Rajo Sikumbang, served as the basis for the painting. The inspiration grew from a photograph of Muhammad Siddiq, which was then brought to life in this artwork.
