I found myself on an unknown great plain on the hill where stars painted the sky, surrounded by monstrous dark forest, a place I would never stepped my feet on, where the late summer wind curse and whine through to the empty but grassy plain. Someone came from behind and asked like an old friend of mine, “Excited by war, that’s why you came, eh?”
I couldn’t describe this person as its appearance were like an illusion appeared to me. It sat on the ground and invited me to do so. We sat next to each other while watching Sirius that rudely witnessing my anger and disappointment, with its bright light that travelled in hellish journey through the empty space. The stranger then said, “He can grant you eternal wishes.”
Before the star were noctilucent clouds which were blown to the North, pursuing Polaris that seemingly out of their reach even if they waited for thousand aeons. Just like my dreams that will never even once filling my now dark future. The clouds were beautiful while at the same time mocked me with its beauty on a bitter reality I should taste for the rest of my life.
Long did gaze to the star, under the waning moon that shone uncannily, but then someone knocked on my door. A postman who I didn’t recognize, sent me a letter from the military. I threw it onto my table and sat down checked the drug that later I found empty.
The outside was full of army marching through the street, which I wonder if they were here only to mock me, with people gathered on the sidewalk to witness the brave men. It was hard to walk and breathe in this crowd while anger and disappointment were still possessing my soul. After an hour that felt like a hellish eternity, I went back to my room and injected the drugs as much as I could. If the eternal wishes were real, this world wouldn’t need me anymore, not like that it would otherwise change anything.
“To the throne we go, The Queen wanted to speak,” asked Zelja. I took my sharp blade and proceed to where The Queen stood, in a chamber where the ministers and high mages were all gathered. The Queen walked to me while I was on my knee, she said, “Prava Iluzija, the head soldier of this kingdom. Be our savior and led our kingdom to victory!” Her words were like an unknown God I thought were Sirius talking to me.
Mages, soldier, priests were all dismissed from the palace to the outside wall of the city to block any flow that would likely targeted the gate. Zelja took over my command on the dirt ground and I were all alone here on the top of tallest marble church tower mounting a catapult machine which the arrows were covered in sulfur. Cosmic-colored shadow arose from distance and came out grotesque blobs covered by dozens of eyes which I recognize from the forbidden manuscript I once read. I looked up to the night sky where Sirius supposed to watch me. It’s already gone.
