Did you know what is climate change? Climate change is a long-term change in the distribution of weather patterns statistically over a period of time from decades to millions of years. Climate change is limited to a specific region or can occur in all regions of the Earth (Wikipedia). And it can be concluded more concisely that climate change is literally a climate that changes as global temperatures rise. This situation we must be aware of because of the impact that can be detrimental to life on earth.

Climate change happens is not without reason and does not happen suddenly. This change occurs because of some factors, either because of natural phenomena or because of human behavior. Some of the causes of climate change are, among others, illegal logging activities carried out by humans, global warming, greenhouse gases, El Nino storms, seawater of the East Pacific, identical with high rainfall / large floods) in the oceans, and also due to depletion of the ozone layer in the Earth's atmosphere.

There is some loss caused by climate change. First, it will be rising global temperatures, rising global temperatures does not mean all regions will become hot, it could be where there is an increase in temperature whereas in other places it gets colder. This can lead to melting ice at the poles, resulting in rising sea levels, it also can damage polar ecosystems, and resulting extinction for polar species, with polar ice melting, sea levels will be rising. It will also threaten the existence of seaside towns or low-elevation areas such as Jakarta, Venice, London, New York, Shanghai, Maldives, Tuvalu and the Pacific island nation. Floods will become more frequent in this area.

Then, weather patterns will be more difficult to predict due to climate change. In some areas, this will increase the intensity of rain which then leads to frequent flooding. In other areas, the emergence of heat currents will be more extreme and result in prolonged drought. With increasing temperatures and water in the oceans, hurricanes will become more frequent.

In addition, for regions that have four seasons, the length of the season will be more difficult to predict. Spring, winter, and other seasons can sometimes happen ten days early or can be late for up to two weeks. And the next impact is, with warmer weather is the ideal situation for viruses and bacteria to spread. Tropical diseases such as malaria and dengue will also be widespread.

Climate change is unavoidable, but as individuals, we can at least reduce the impact. For example, only use of energy-saving appliances, turn off electronic appliances and lights when not in use, avoid excessive use of Heater and air conditioning and define milk as needed, not wasteful, use public transportation, recycle waste and reduce use of disposable goods, reduce paper use and plastic, and change the diet to be healthier. Therefore, our environment will become more comfortable and reduce the effects of climate change.
