Today, I woke up before dawn and I should prepare all. After reciting holy Qur’an, I went to Magelang as soon as possible. Afterwards, I printed all I need including resume and cover letter. I had no idea all day long, I just prepared the big topic and big theme I’d teach in my mind. I decided to copy the exercise I gave and some flash cards.
“Grandpa, granny, I gotta go now.” I was in a hurry.
“You must have brunch first before leaving.” My grandpa insisted me to get brunch first, whereas, I was almost late.
“But I’m in a hurry and I’m afraid if I come late.” I answered with nervous tone.
“Just some of rice, all in all, you must eat something to make you healthy and not hungry when you teach later.” My granny added the conversation and finally she insisted me as well to get brunch.
Finally, I got brunch first in spite of being late. I didn't know what to do if I came late and the interview would be failed. Boy oh boy, I could think clearly because of late. But, I tried to be tranquil all day long. As I remembered that the interview would be held at 09.30. So, that's why I was so in a hurry at that time. I rode my motorcycle fast. Ultimately, I arrived to the office where I must be interviewed.
Oh my God, at the first I remembered that I should come at 09.30 am, but actually the event would be held at 10.30. Hemmm I thought that I should have some more rice in the afternoon. There was my mistake at the first time. I didn’t know what happened next, but the first thing I should do was going to my relatives home to keep in touch and helped my sister-in-law to be. I help her to open her store selling many kinds of beverages and juices. Hemmm really really nice.
“Sist, do you need a hand?” I asked to my sister-in-law to be.
“Hemmm just accompany me here and we can do anything we want.” She said.
“If you want, you can check the fruits in front and you can make them clean.” She added with a cute smile showing to me.
“Okay, I will.” I said with a big smile.
Next, I went to the office I visited before at 10.30. I met Mark there and we talked many things. He was so kind and nice. He knew me that I am a moslem and we didn’t touch one another. I liked it, and he shared anything. We discussed each other about TV programs in Indonesia and America. He is an American and he liked NHK program.
“What programs do you like?” Mark asked me while sitting on the sofa next to me.
“Actually I don’t really like watching TV, but I used to watch NHK world.” I said.
“Wow, that’s a great program to make us get more information. I like it very much.” Mark said with a nice mimic.
“Yea, I know that. We can know about many things, culture, politics, economics, and many more.” I added and tried to expand the conversation.
“Uh huh, in America, there was a soap opera. Bla bla bla...” He said and told many things I didn’t get the meaning.
“Do you know soap opera?” He asked me. I thought that he knew I was confused with the conversation at that time.
“Hemmm soup?” I asked to make it clear.
Then he tried to shake his hands like a person washing clothes.
“Ohh,,, soap, sabun?” I said with smiling.
“Yes, and opera.” He made it clear by shaking his body.
“Oh, I see. Opera.” I laughed and he laughed as well.
"Do you like watching film or sinetron maybe like many people do." Mark asked me with eager eyes.
"No, I don't like sinetron." I answer simply.
"Yea, I think it can make us lazy and shallow. Do you know shallow?" Mark tried to explain and make it clear.
"Yea, emmm dangkal, dull, and so on." I said by thinking for a moment.
"Uh huh, in America there is no sinetron, and I'm so curious about what the sinetron is." Mark looked so confused.
"Ow, I personally think that sinetron is like a film but it contains many episodes, emmm like series film." I tried to explain as far as I know.
"Ow I think it's a blend from two words, cinema and electronic. So, it can be sinetron." Mark tried to argue.
"Hemm, It can be, but as I know that sinetron is a film containing many episodes, so, it's different from movie or film." I explained.
"Oh, but in America actually there is a series film, but it just contains some episodes, and it is just showed once a week, not everyday." He said.
"Hemmm, it can be to entertain some people who want to relax in their home." I tried to argue.
"Yea, maybe. It can be an entertainment for some house wife. right?" He said.
"Oh where are you from?" Mark asked me.
"I come from Wonosobo. Do you know?" I answered.
"Hemmm I like that place. The air is so fresh because the land is high, right? The higher the land is the fresher the air is." He tried to explain by moving his hands.
"Yea, it's right, and there are so much beautiful scenery that it has. I like it too. So, you have ever visited there?" I added the argument.
"Yea, I went there when visited my migration to the imigration office there." He said.
Speaking English for two hours made my tongue stiff, but I liked it very much. I thought that I was dreaming at that time. How could I speak English with a native? Moreover I could discuss about culture, education and many more in English. That’s a wonderful experience in my life. Meeting great people and helping my brother and his girlfriend trying to be entrepreneurs by selling and making juices and beverages were awesome.
“Excuse me, I need an orange juice, a glass of coffemix, lotis, and carica, please.” There was a man tried to order the menu.
“Riv, you must peel the carica and boil it. Don’t forget to make a glass of coffemix as well.” My brother, Rian asked me to help him.
He had just been back from his school. He is a BK teacher guiding many students in a small village far from the town. After being back from the school, he's used to being back to the food store and help his girlfriend selling and serving the beverages managed by him and his girlfriends.
Finally, we prepared all and served the menu. That was a great experience I had.
If I had been in doing a thesis, I would have written my partners’ name in my thesis. Dadad, Willy, Awan, and Rio supporting me and making me happy. Without their support, I didn’t know what to do. Dadad had taught me anything about resume in English version, writing style, motivation, going abroad, and so on. Willy had supported me, given me advice, and guided me to do something new. Awan had taught me to be humble and to be grateful with strong passion to never give up. Rio had made me smile with his joke.
“Riv, good luck for your interview.” Dadad sent me a short message.
“Okay, thanks, do you know? Bla bla bla..” I answered the message with a long message by telling my experience.
Thanks in advance my friends for your kindness, motivation, support and everything although you are annoying sometimes hehe.. But, I know that you guys are kind people with great experience more than I have.
