A few days ago when I read and heard and watched the news about tsunami in Japan, it reminded me about tsunami in Aceh year 2004.
Nope, I was not a lucky survivor but at that time me and my family were in Belawan - North Sumatra and we did experience the shaking ground beneath our feet. Naturally I frightened as how in the heck we were going to survive this... There were my Mom who was not in her best condition and not to mention my late grandmother. For the first time I witnessed how the house in front of us shaking from left to right over and over again. But, calmly my aunt said that they are used to earthquake. So, we should just relax (relax? are you kidding?) and soon it will be over. We were lucky that all of us not being swept away by tsunami at that time.
Now, watching that happened in Japan felt so unreal. I meant, Japan is one of countries that have high technology and still unable to avoid catastrophe caused by the angry nature. I heard they have built this wall for about 30 years to anticipate tsunami but as we can see it did not able to contain the massive wave that came to take everything on the land.
Then, of course naturally I think if a country who has advanced technology in Japan unable to avoid this disaster then how on earth we here in Indonesia able to do so? Not to mention that the-so-called people who should be paying attention are busy with themselves.
We can only pray from here that hopefully people around the world whose world is upside down right now...still have hopes to welcome their future. Easy to said than done but then again, without hope...what is the reason for us to continue our life?
