Students became a victim of sexual harassment committed by her lecturer FS, when she wanted to guide her thesis on September 25. This is not the first case to occur at Unhas. Previously, a similar case had occurred last June at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. This report was followed up by the task force in the form of an investigation by collecting evidence to checking surveillance cameras. This investigation must be carried out because there are no other witnesses other than the victim and the perpetrator denies all allegations given. for this criminal act can actually be forwarded to the realm of law, with a case of sexual harassment which can involve Article 289 of the old Criminal Code which reads:

“Any person who by force or threat of force forces a person to commit or allows an obscene act to be committed, shall, being guilty of an act offensive to the honor of decency, be punished by a maximum imprisonment of nine years.”

However, it is unfortunate that because no witnesses have been found, this harassment case can only be brought at the Hassanudin University center. Reporting from makassar kompas.id. The Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence or PPKS Task Force has also proposed permanent dismissal as a lecturer / ASN to the perpetrator. This was said by the Chairperson of the Unhas PPKS Task Force Prof. Farida Patittingi at Unhas, Friday (29/11/2024) afternoon. Unhas held a press conference to respond to the development of this case which received widespread attention.

“Previously, the sanction concerned was dismissal in the position as Chairperson of the Quality Assurance and Reputation Improvement Group at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences. In addition, he was suspended for 18 months. We have increased the punishment by submitting a proposal to the Unhas Rector for permanent dismissal as a lecturer and ASN,” Farida said.

This proposal, said Farida, has been signed by the Rector of Unhas Prof. Jamaluddin Jompa and immediately forwarded to the Ministry of Research and Technology. For this reason, the PPKS Task Force prepared various evidence, data and witnesses needed to strengthen the recommendation. However, this should also be done in the realm of customary law as well, where there can be a process of social sanctions and an apology from the perpetrator to the victim with the aim that the perpetrator is deterred in the social aspects of society and so that the victim is expected to feel calm, safe and relieved from within the victim himself. Also, this case should be followed up further in order to minimize further victims looking for more information about what the perpetrator has done.
