In 1994, the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries, also known as CCRF, was agreed.
CCRF is an agreement that becomes a reference in managing and developing an orderly, responsible and sustainable fishery and this agreement is formed by a joint decision that has been agreed upon by member countries of The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
During the course of the CCRF, it was deemed insufficient as a reference in managing fishery resources, including the prevention and control of IUU fishing.
So that in combating IUU Fishing, FAO member countries agreed to formulate an international action as outlined in the International Plan of Action to Prevent, Deter, and Eliminate IUU fishing (IPOAIUU Fishing) in 2001.
IPOA-Fishing is a global action aimed at preventing resource damage. fisheries resources and rebuilding fisheries resources that have been or are nearly extinct.
So that the availability of food sourced from fisheries for current and future generations is guaranteed. IPOA-IUU Fishing must be followed up by every country in the world.
