Chairman of Indonesian Ulema Council Hamidan asked the government to act decisively to respond immediately the existence of Negara Islam Indonesia or Indonesian Islamic State(NII) movement. The reason is , according to Hamidan, government and officials have already known this group's activities since a long time ago.
Hamidan added, MUI has been conducting research into Pesantren Al Zaitun which is mentioned as a place where the embryo of NII in 2002. In the study, said Hamidan found two entities in it, namely Compartment Area (KW) 9 and the NII, and both have good relations.
he said, in this pesantren there are two groups which are called the outer circle and the inner circle. The outer circleis active with the outside community and according to research there is almost no errors in the teachings of Islam on this circle. However, the anomaly was found in inner circle, as reported so far.
"We have sent our research to the Ministry of Religious Affairs concerning the radicalization in the inner cirlce in it. We also did it to Police Headquarters. We are also still remember the name of the police officers, to whom we submit," he added.
Therefore, Hamidan added, the government should resolve this issue explicitly since the government already knew it since long time ago.
"They already know, they must do repressive action. If it's persuasive handling, namely in the framework of education in schools, colleges, and so on. The most important, parents must be alert. Do not take it easy if the childdoes not come home for couple of days. Parents should be aware of school or college of their child, "he said.
