Thrift Shopping become trend among among young people as a lifestyle and fashion refrences. There are a lot of branded product things you could buy there with a very cheap prices, in other word “Pocket-Friendly”. One of the locations that is quite famous and it’s the main location for the thrifter is Pasar Senen. Before the “Thrift Shopping” became a trend, Pasar Senen was already known as a used clothes shop supplier.
In this market, there’s a lot types of clothes are available, such as t-shirts, pants, jackets, hats, bags, until shoes was imported from many different country like US, Korea, Japan, Singapore, and many others.
Theres a pretty much visitor in Pasar Senen who interested to “thrift shopping” trend. However, most of them are the young people. I was experienced to be the one of traders at Pasar Senen, I think thrift shopping is interesting because there are lot of traders who sell a good condition vintage clothes, jeans, boots, even used underwear. It sounds weird to buy someone’s used underwear but there are people who really-really buy it.
There are many way to do transaction there. Step one, you have to bargaining untill get the best price for your stuff, when you get the deal with traders you can pay it by cash, or some of them are using barcode payment. I preffer come at night because they are give more cheap price than afternoon.
I got all my outfit from thrifting at pasar senen, i think its cool enough to get all of them with 1/4 price than the new one.
It’s cost for less than Rp.200.000 for one of my outfit with a good condition stuff. So, i think its worth to follow thrift shopping trend to keeping lot of money. It’s also could avoid “fast fashion” as well.
