As a Bogor native, I feel compelled to introduce and preserve traditional culinary delights from the city of Bogor. This city is famous for its diverse and appetizing specialties. If you are in the city of Bogor, the most delicious food you must taste is fried bean sprouts. This food is most favored by all Bogor people because of its distinctive and delicious taste. Fried Bean Sprouts are one of the original culinary snacks of the archipelago and are also popular in several regions, such as fried bean sprouts typical of Bogor, Bandung, Betawi or Jakarta, bean sprouts tauco (geco) Cianjur and several other areas, but of course with different characteristics and presentation variations.

The city of Bogor has become one of the culinary tourist attractions sought by travelers from various regions. Some famous culinary centers include those along Jalan Suryakencana, Jalan Bangbarung, Jalan Merdeka, and around Taman Yasmin. There are so many typical foods that can be found in the city of Bogor such as fruit and vegetable pickles, laksa, soto mie, es pala, doclang, cunkring, cilembu roasted sweet potatoes, bridal dumplings, roti unyil, sweets, and my favorite fried bean sprout.

What will be discussed this time is a recipe for fried bean sprouts typical of Bogor. In this creation, it is quite simple to use a fried chili sauce that is poured over a mixture of oncom and tauco spices, which makes it a unique and very tasty dish when eaten. Toge goreng is quite a unique food. It is said to be unique because, from the name, much might think that this preparation is bean sprouts made by frying, but it turns out that the name can deceive anyone actually fried bean sprouts are made by boiling the food is not fried at all. Perhaps it is because the ingredients are boiled using a wide tray or a tray similar to a wok that it looks like it is fried.

Fried bean sprouts are said to have been influenced by China and Europe. Starting from the Chinese, who were inspired by Italian food, namely spaghetti with tomato paste. The Chinese then created spaghetti to their own taste. Replacing spaghetti with yellow noodles mixed with boiled bean sprouts. Tomato paste is replaced with tauco seasoning which also has a slightly sour taste and then added to oncom by Sundanese people. Toge goreng is a healthy food that is non-cholesterol and suitable for vegetarians because it does not use animal products.
