Justice is seemingly inapplicable to solve the conflict that occurred between National Police Officers and Corruption Eradication Commission currently. In lieu of proclaiming justice, National Police Officers are just announcing verdict.

The arrest of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Deputy Chiefs, Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah on October, 29 had likely recalled public’s memory regarding the catastrophe that befell on Sengkon and Karta more than three decades ago. These two poor farmers were sentenced to twelve and seven years’ imprisonment as they were being accused by the prosecutors and court of committing a murder that they didn’t actually execute.

Bibit and Chandra were detained on allegations of abused power, bribery, and extortion. Police Deputy Detective Chief, Insp. General Dikdik Mulyana Arif Mansyur claimed that the police had got enough evidence to place both suspects in custody.

Police Officers were convinced by the testimony of former KPK chairman, Antasari Azhar, testifying that a number of KPK chiefs had been bribed as much as IDR 6.7 billion by the Director of PT Masaro Radiokom, Anggoro Widjojo. The bribery was to prevent KPK from scrutinizing the corruption in Forestry Ministry regarding the supply of Comprehensive Radio Communication System tools as much as IDR 180 billion, involving Anggoro Widjojo and former Chairman of Commission IV in legislative body, Yusuf Erwin Faisal.

However, the voice recorder that was divulged in Constitutional Court after being kept by Corruption Eradication Commission for some time didn’t serve as a powerful proof to proceed the custody of Bibit and Chandra. Thus, they were set free on November, 3rd; yet they still became the suspects. The divulgence of this voice recorder nevertheless had created a more apprehensive relation between KPK and National Police Officers. A number of new names that were suspected as being involved in this crime started to emerge, amongst them are: Police Chief of Detective, Comr. General Susno Duadji, Ari Mulyadi and Edy Soemarsono, the middlemen that were then required by Anggoro to bribe KPK leaders.

The case was getting more complicated when Century Bank (now called as Mutiara Bank) was believed to have relation with this corruption, bribery, and extortion case. The voice recorder revealed that it was Susno who as attempting to extort the Director of PT Lancar Sampoerna Bestari, Boedi Sampoerna in return for retrieving his latter money that was stuck in that bank.

The transcript furthermore showed the role of Anggoro,s younger brother, Anggodo Widjojo to arrange a plot to frame on Bibit and Chandra in the bribery case. Subsequently, it was the responsibility of Ari and Edy for giving false testimony on Bibit and Chandra. According to the transcript, Ari was commanded by Anggodo to claim that he had been ordered by Anggoro to pay IDR 5 billion to Chandra to halt KPK investigation into Anggoro.

In order to clarify the facts that KPK was being accused of bribery and extortion as well as clarifying law process of Bibit and Chandra, President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono formed Fact Finding Team on November, 2nd. This team is chaired by Adnan Buyung Nasution. This team is also responsible for finding the facts, relating to Bank of Indonesia that bails out IDR 6.7 trillion to Century Bank. Newly-elected vice president is said to be involved in this bail-out. Hence, legislative body is inquiring for their investigation rights to inspect Century Bank.

Now that the three bodies in Indonesia (Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary) are working through this case and people are awaiting for any further facts they can come up with.
