The author didn't mention in what circumstances makes the Prophet said that things.
For instance, as mention in Koran, when Muhammad emigrated to Medinna, he makes an agreement with non muslim people who lived in Medinna, that called Hudaibiyah Agreement. To live alongside among interfaith peacefully. If what he said in the quote above is an absolute principle, then it would be no agreement. We need to understand the context of the Koran/ Hadits said before we make conclusion.Â
And in Kuran surah Al-Kafirun, it was saying that my religion is my religion and your religion is your religion. Because in Islam there is no coercion to believe one and other thing. Islam respect for the divergence, even in Koran, Surah Al-maidah ayah 48,Â
"...Had Allah willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so race to [all that is] good. To Allah is your return all together, and He will [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ."
So diversity is a necessity. And the Islam born as Rahmatan lil alamin (mercy for all universe), not rahmatan lil muslimin (mercy for muslim).
And in islam, the only one who has right to decide a person will go to heaven or hell, only the God it self, He has the prerogatives right.
Slightly backwards, before Islam exist, Arabian people known as their ignorance (jahil in Arabian), (remember, not wicked). The antonym of ignorance is intelligent, clever. They can't utilise their mind.Â
It's like.. If we teach them they can't connect, if we give them something they will refuse, if we give them advise they won't listen. Something important they will take it unnecessary and the way around.
Because of their ignorance, they think that their daughter making bad luck for the family, useless and even it was embarrassing to have a daughter! At that moment, the human dignity was not being respected. They can married the women as much as they like. They also drink a lot, warlike, fighting among tribe, clash of strength, that he strongest is the winner.
After Muhammad had the vision, then he told the closest people around him to believe in him.Â
Can you imagine in that situation Muhammad preach about Islam? What would the people reaction be?Â
