There is a method in teaching speaking which is talking about random thing or also known as sudden topic. In this time the speaker has to talk for about two until five minutes. Here, the speaker is challenged to explain something without preparation. They also have to concern about the vocabulary used and correct grammar. The following is the example of sudden topic in speaking.
A few days ago, I watched an interesting video on YouTube. In the video there are Najwa Sihab and Kiki Saputri, a stand-up comedian who is famous for his rosting technique. They talked about interesting things related to roasting. Najwa asked about Kiki's opinion regarding her actions in roasting many politicians in Indonesia.
Previously, do you know roasting? Well roasting is one way to convey jokes in the world of stand up comedy. Roasting is done by revealing several things that tend to be negative about the object being roasted. Some of them look like they are mocking the object. Because some stand up comedians use harsh words when roasting. Like Nopek Novian, a comic from Java who is famous for his comedy. He also uses curse words to spice things up. However, he did not do this haphazardly, Nopek still considered the object being discussed.
However, in the video Kiki explains something different. According to her, roasting is a form of appreciation for someone. Just like Kiki did when roasting state officials. Even though she explored the negative things about the official, she also expressed her appreciation for her. Kiki also said that before roasting there is an agreement between the comic and the object being roasted. So that the comic and the object can filter what things can be said when on stage or when appearing in front of an audience.
