Tangerang Selatan -Â Scheduled to take place at the Plaza Puspemkot Tangsel from May 24 to 26, 2024, the upcoming event promises an exhilarating showcase of Pencak Silat prowess among various schools and martial arts institutions.
The competition comprises two distinct categories: Achievement and Festival. Under the Achievement category, participants are classified into four groups: children (Elementary School), pre-teens (Junior High School), teenagers (Senior High School), and adults.
Meanwhile, the Festival category encompasses five classifications catering to diverse age groups: early childhood for ages 6-12, pre-teens for ages 12-15, teenagers for ages 15-22, adults for ages 22-40, and elders for ages above 50.
Delima Bungsu Andy, Chairperson of IPSI Tangsel, expressed that the event's organization aims to preserve and introduce cultural heritage to the younger generation in Tangsel.
"The motivation behind this event stems from the scarcity of such festivals in Tangsel. Hence, we've taken the initiative to host it here," Delima remarked on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
Delima emphasized the significance of Pencak Silat, highlighting its incorporation into the local curriculum in Tangsel's schools.
"It's crucial to promote awareness about Pencak Silat within the community, especially with the enactment of local curriculum regulations directly signed by the Mayor," she added.
She also expressed hopes for active participation from both students and Pencak Silat enthusiasts in the event.
"As the festival category is just beginning, we're aiming for 200 to 300 participants. For the competitive category, we're targeting 500 participants across all classifications," Delima concluded.
