With the movie 'Interstellar' releasing their first dvd almost half a year after being in the theaters, this will be a very overdue movie review (with spoilers of course). Throughout the whole film I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen. I hardly ever, but for 'Interstellar', I might just watch it twice. It makes you wish a Forgeting Machine invented beforehand, just for the sake of rewatching it with the same breath taking experience. That's how good this movie is.

The movie itself reaped box office profits of $672.7 million according to wikipedia, almost 5 times the initial budget. A movie directed by Christopher Nolan who also did the Batman Triology and Inception was expected no less. It led to many questioning the science behind the scenes, raising the curiosity of intergalactic travel. All while also inspiring the space explorers of tomorrow.

The story begins on earth in the near future where pathogens infect most of the world's food supply causing the society to collapse into a agrarian period where the population struggles to maintain their harvest. The frequent dust storms occurring in Midwestern United States make survival no less hard. As the harvests bring in less every year it soon becomes obvious that earth will soon become uninhabitable. That information however, is kept secret by NASA as they search for planets harboring the ability to contain life.

Joseph Cooper, the main character of the film, is an ex NASA pilot and a father of two, Murphy and Tom. Cooper and his little daughter Murphy have a strong bond together. That was until she finds out that Cooper is has been assigned to NASA’s new mission. It turns out that a wormhole was formed near Saturn placed by ‘they’, referring to possible beings with a higher technology and intelligence or simply put; aliens. Without the wormhole space travel would be impossible as the closest star is light years away and simply unreachable. On the other side of the wormhole lies several possibly habitable planets sided by a massive black hole.

Professor Brand promises Cooper that he will have finished his equation of gravity allowing NASA to proceed to plan A, the saving of humanity on earth. Plan B would be preserving human sperm and starting a new colony on a new planet whilst abandoning human life on earth.
