Dota 2 Post TI5 Shuffle Recap

Congratulations to Evil Geniuses for winning TI5! EG were up against the Chinese wild card team CDEC. During the draft CDEC were forced to ban Naga Siren and Techies (heroes both played substantially by Aui_2000) every round because it countered their aggressive play style. This let ppd get the upper hand and picked up sumail’s niche hero storm spirit and gyrocopter for Fear. After the play by UNiVeRse more commonly known as the $6,000,000 echo slam it was clear that EG was going to take home the aegis.

The match was 2 weeks ago. Post TI can be difficult especially with the Majors coming up, a new concept by Valve bringing Dota four seasonal tournaments with summer being TI. With the autumn major coming up soon, teams are getting less time for roster changes (ending at September) so things can elevate drastically and drama fills the halls of reddit.

The highlight of the shuffle should go to the heartbreaking kick of Aui_2000 who just after a week of winning TI is getting replace by Arteezy, former Secret carry player. Fear being EG’s initial carry is moving to become a position 4 support after dwindling hand injuries. After receiving immeasurable amounts of hate from twitter and reddit ppd announced his reasoning on his blog stating that although Aui had many favorable traits, they were outweighed. Aui lacked composure and created a stressful environment at times while occasionally questioning ppd’s strategy.

It was revealed that Team Secret faced internal problems that contributed to their loss. Performing well in the group stage didn’t them help to secure a top 5. After being renown around the world as one of the best team and also beating EG during ESL, many teams studied their play style and possible counters which was shown at their match against EHome. Team Secret lacked bonding and at times disliked each other according to Arteezy during his stream on twitch followed by his departure. There are also complications between Kuro and Arteezy.  And with Zai leaving temporarily to finish school it was thought to be the end of Team Secret. On twitter however, it was announced that their new roster will be announced shortly.

Team Cloud9 has disbanded and the players are going their separate ways. Their captain EternalEnvy was rumored to be in a team with Puppey possibly on Secret while FATA was to be on the German stack. Between all that the C9 organization itself will stay in Dota finding a new team. C9 also has its roots in CS:GO and Battlefield. Team Virtus Pro finished in the top 5 and being the new team that they are its extremely well. They gladly announced that they will be staying together for the majors.

There are many rumored transfers with little confirmed. The situation will open up in a week or 2 and we will be back to watching good old Dota.
