A: I know, you don't like traveling and hate flying. However, I'm sure you ever visited at least one country abroad. Where was it?
B: Egypt. My dad used to work in Indonesian Embassy there for 5 years (1981-1986). Egypt has many historical sites for tourism. It's well known around the world, such as pyramid, sphinx, Luxor, Aswan, including Cairo as the capital city.
A: How about domestic tourist destination? Which one is the most memorable to you?
B: Borobudur Temple. It's the biggest Buddhist temple in the world, man. It's really remarkable and outstanding. It means Buddhism once ever dominated Indonesia territory back then... especially during Majapahit Kingdom.
A: How about Bali, bro? Never been there at all?
B: Only once... in 1989. I went there with my mom. As far as I can remember, the place was okay. I just spent few days there so that had no chance to explore Bali more.
A: Ever heard that some places in Indonesia are also famous as tourist destination?Â
B: Yes, of course. Sumba, for example... is included as one of the recommended places for tourism in 2025. Nice, huh? I have never been there. I'd say it's good because we no longer think that Bali is the only popular place for tourism in Indonesia. Let's hope other places like Toba Lake, Raja Ampat, Malioboro Street Yogyakarta, Asia-Africa Street Bandung, Lawang Sewu Museum Semarang, Lombok, Prambanan Temple, etc will follow. Good tourism can open many job opportunity, you know.Â
