(Short Conversation) Police Story (1985) Could Be Jackie Chan's Best Movie

A: It's an "old school" movie. What is special about it? 

B: The action scenes were awesome. It won Best Picture and Best Action Choreography in 1986 Hong Kong Film Awards. 

A: What is the movie about? OK, the title is clear... it's about cop versus bad guys. Is that it?

B: Yeah... more and less. The plus point is filled with comedy and cool stuntmen fighting scenes. 

A: Who directed this movie? Jackie Chan himself?

B: Yes. He also wrote (with Edward Tang) and starred this movie. Produced by Leonard Ho. The running time is 100 minutes and the box office was US$ 53 million worldwide (2023). The production company was Golden Way Film Ltd. based in Hong Kong. 

A: I'm not a big fan of Jackie Chan. Isn't there any sequel of this movie? 

B: Police Story 2 (1988), Police Story 3 Super Cop (1992), Police Story 4 First Strike (1996), New Police Story (2004), and Police Story 2013. My favorite are Police Story 1-3-4. 

A: What are remarkable action scenes from this movie?

B: Car chases, hanging off with umbrella in a speeding bus, parkour-like acrobatics, shopping mall fights with shattered glass panes, sliding down a pole with exploding electric lights. This movie has been frequently listed as one of the greatest action films of all time. In fact in his autobiography, Jackie Chan considers it as his best action film. This movie is really a "GOAT", man... "old school" but cool.
