Dita Agusta and her husband are the founders of Rumah Kucing Parung or RKP shelter located in Parung, Bogor Regency, West Java. The Parung Cat House was built in 2014 and was initially intended for Dita's 30 cats.Â
"In the beginning, it was actually not public, so my husband built this cat house only for my cats, which at that time were only thirty in number," she said
Since then, Dita and her husband finally intended to make it a home for all cats, then they gave the name Rumah Kucing Parung.Â
Dita and her husband's journey while building Rumah Kucing Parung to this stage was not easy, at first they faced many obstacles, one of which was from the people around them.Â
"Yes, there must be, maybe for them, this is something new, but alhamdulillah the response was very positive and I could share to them a lot about cat issues, cat welfare, cat sterilization, and their response was very positive," she said.Â
Starting from Dita's thirty cats, up to now there are more than five hundred cats in Rumah Kucing Parung, the funds spent are certainly not small to support the more than five hundred cats. Starting from the cost of cat food, operations, treatment, sterilization, and so on. Dita replied that for operational costs, all the funds came from donations from various parties, ranging from individuals, communities, cat food producers, etc.
"I always accept whatever the amount, whatever the form, I accept the cat donation for the survival of the cats here," said Dita.
Rumah Kucing Parung prioritizes abandoned, abused, hit-and-run cats, as well as cats who are in a very unpredictable condition.
"As long as it is still alive, it must try as much as possible to make the cat survive," said Dita.Â
According to Dita, it is better to make Rumah Kucing Parung the last solution because once it has been handed over to Rumah Kucing Parung, the cats cannot be taken back and cats must go through a process where they struggle to adapt to their new environment.Â
