Aceh has become one of the places visited by tourists, both local and foreign. This is insaparable from the many historical sites that are worth to visit. Among the many available tourist destinations, one of the interesting things to visit when visiting Aceh is the Rumoh Atjeh (read as rumoh aceh) Museum. Rumoh Aceh is part of Aceh Museum. This place located in Jalan Sultan Alaidin Mahmudsyah, about 50 meters before the Aceh Governor's Hall.

History

First, Rumoh Aceh used as the Aceh Pavilion in the ground of De Koloniale Tentoonsteling (The Colonial Exhibitation) in Semarang from August 13th to November 15th, 1914. The building was returned to Koetaraja (now Banda Aceh) exactly in Blang Padang, Aceh on August 31th, 1915. In 1969, the Rumoh Aceh was moved to Jalan Sultan Alaidin Mahmudsyah.

Mr. M. Jakfar said "This house was originally used  as Aceh Pavilion in an exhibition in Semarang, 1914. And at that time the Rumoh Aceh won the second place and Bali as the first. This Acehnese house does not use nails, it only uses straps and pegs so that it can be dismantled or known as knockdown."

Parts of the Rumoh Aceh

This house contains four rooms, there are the front room (sramoe keu), the middle room (rambat), the back room (sramoe likot) and downstairs (ruang bawah/gudang).

The front room

The front room (sramoe keu) is used as a living room, a place for conducting religious activities and meetings.
