On monday, 13th June 2022, Online school registration for High School in DKI Jakarta known as PPDB (Pendaftaran Peserta Didik Baru) has opened. Thousands of students in DKI Jakarta who already graduated from junior high school have followed this registration to register themselves in any Jakarta's Public School. This online school registration has 9 phases which can be registered by all junior high school students in Jakarta.
Before applying, students have to input their average grades and some achievements they got when they were still junior high school students. After that the system will calculate every student's grade and achievement score and then they will get the final score which is necessary for the registration.Â
The system will select those who meet the school's criteria. Those who didn't pass can register in next phases.Â
But for this year PPDB seems to have new regulations. Some students think the system is kind of unfair for calculating their final score. Because there's some students who have lower average grades but got higher final scores than some students who have a higher grade.Â
Ziya, a student who didn't pass the first phase of online school registration said, "My average grade is 86 and I have an achievement that can boost my final score. But there's a student from another school who got a lower average grade than mine but they got a higher final score".Â
Ziya said that this not only happened to her, but also her friend experienced the same thing as her. Unfortunately, they didn't pass.
Some parents are also feeling mad and sad at the same time about this whole new online registration school system. They hope the Ministry of National Education can change the system for the next PPDB so this thing doesn't happen again in the future.
