Rafflesia Arnoldii

Rafflesia arnoldii (also known as Padma Raksasa) is a unique plant known for its large, striking flowers. No body parts are visible apart from the flowers, making it one of the most striking plants in nature. The flowers can reach up to 1 meter or more in diameter and have five thick and wide petals, usually red with white spots. The plant has no visible leaves, stems, or roots, as it lives as a parasite on certain host plants and does not photosynthesize. When the flowers bloom, Rafflesia arnoldii produces a strong, foul scent. 

This strategy of emitting a foul odor is used to attract pollinating insects, such as flies and beetles, to the flower. The specific 'rancid' smell emitted by the dull orange flowers comes from the decay of plant matter. Apart from the odor, the wide and open surface of the flower also attracts insects, especially flies and beetles. 

Rafflesia Arnoldii is a rare plant that is very difficult to find and is designated as a rare Indonesian flower. This flower is endemic to the island of Sumatra, especially in the southern part, such as Bengkulu, Jambi, and South Sumatra. It is found in Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS), Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (TNBBS), Seblat Elephant Training Center (North Bengkulu Regency), and Padang Guci, Kaur Regency. TNBBS itself has been designated as a conservation center for this plant.
