Parents, are the individuals who are most likely to be the closest with their child definitely hold an extremely important role to the child. If parents learn how they can be engage to the children education in a good way, then it will definitely shapes positive outcomes to the child's education. It can lead to many positive effects, could be improved children's social skill, academic performance, self-confidence, fewer bad behavior amongst other students, and many more.
It's proved by a lot of researchers, for example in 2007 Christina Clark did a research of the significant impact of parental involvement on children's literacy and overall educational outcomes. The result is when parents are developing language by reading them books or provide them with books or the smallest example is when parents introduced their child about a book then children will be have a significant advantage in school including enhances children's vocabulary, comprehension, and expressive language skills.
Children will be motivated by the support from their closest people, and support can be expressed in various ways. Each ways can give an important contribution through the development of their academic and character. Parents can express their support by showing emotional support such as give the child a motivation for facing the ups and down in academic to involve their self-confidence, also it's important to help them recover after failure and motivate them for not giving up.
Beside emotional support, other important element is academic support. Parents can actively participated in their learning experience, for example you can plan their study schedule to help them manage their time with study, break, and fun activities to keep the balance. Parents also can participated in school meeting to get an information about child development and indirectly will support them.
Another way, parents can give their children environment support, they can make sure the child feels safe and comfortable in their home by providing them a study place to help them focus and concentrate with the study. The distraction is also have to be minimized such as a distraction form gadget, television, game, because all of those is highly the reason children are not focus with their study.
Encourage children to keep in touch with education is also important, like taking them to the library, educational center, or even museum to help them discover and familiar with education so they can feel education is becoming part of themselves.
Social support is also possible, involving children with a social activity like a community, club, study group, or extraculicullar will help them socialize with other trough education. It can develop their public speaking, social interaction, self-esteem, positive individual relation, and other. So make sure they also participated in activities outside school and house for their exploration with world.
However, what is the matter all of those if the child doesn't have a good personality. Parents also have to guide their children the importance of having a good personality, such as empathy that will bound children with positive and warm relationship with their friends. Honesty is also come first, there are so many case about a students who got a great grade because they are cheated on the test, most of them feel pressured through their parents expectation that are too high.
Other personalities just as important as previous one is responsibility, parents have to make sure what decisions and actions they take will become the  positive outcomes to the child, if it doesn't, then help them to understand if risk are exist and lead to them to discover the answer.
Despite all the things I had mentioned, don't forget that introduced them to religion is also essential, religious beliefs can play a vital role in a child's overall development. For example if the children is muslim, then parents have to start introduced them about salat, Quran as mulim guidebook, the story of prophets, and other aspect.

Don't ever underestimate your role as a parents, if parents just physically exist but not mentally exist, then what will happen to the child?.
